Particularly interested in those dual booting on older systems. How do your FPS's compare?

    Windows video card driver:
    Mac/Linux video card driver:
    Dota 2 advanced video settings:

    Windows fps:
    Mac native fps:
    Mac bootcamp/parallels fps:
    Linux native fps:
    Linux wine fps:
    CPU: Intel C2D E8500
    RAM: 4GB DDR2
    Video card: AMD HD4850 512MB
Windows video card driver: AMD Catalyst legacy 13.1
Linux video card driver: AMD Catalyst legacy 13.1
Dota 2 advanced video settings: Textures = "MED", everything else "OFF"

    Windows fps: Windows 7 - 60fps
    Linux native fps: Archlinux 3.9.9 - 20fps

I have the same problem, and Steam is not guilty. This is x org or drivers problem. And i don't think Valve can do anything about it, but it would be great!)

IIRC, in Windows, Dota2 used DX3D while in Linux/MacOS, Dota2 used OpenGL. That's probably why low fps in Linux/OSX compared to Windows. They'll need to more optimize the OpenGL driver

Drivers are supplied by the hardware manufacturer/open source community, not valve. As soon as I get home I'll try running the game with my Intel HD graphics 4000. It runs the other valve games just fine.

On my system with 8 GB of DDR3 RAM, an HD 7770, and a 3.2GHz Quad Core AMD processor, I get about 70-80 FPS on Windows with max settings, and 10-25 FPS on Linux regardless of settings.

I mean that Valve need to more optimized the Graphic code in Dota2 for linux as the other valve games just fine (probably because in Windows they already use OpenGL instead of DX3D meanwhile Dota2 still use DX3D instead of OpenGL)

    RAM: 8gb
    Video card: 560Ti
    Windows video card driver: 314
    Mac/Linux video card driver: 310
Dota 2 advanced video settings: MAX

    Windows 7 fps: 80-120
    Linux native fps: 80-120
    Linux wine fps: 60+

    Ubuntu 12.04 - 3.2.0-29-generic

All working great except first main menu loading, it takes 3min, but game loads in 60s over 1gbps NFS.

There are bugs in menu like images not showing, blured, pink squares etc...
In game only river blinks green sometimes, not allways...

and theres bug with multi monitor, mouse goes on another in any screen mode.

    PS
just finished 40min game no problems except those above and there was minor spike about 0.5s every 20-40min, but it could be anything, i don't run only dota http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMd9VuMChhg

and loading screen is not showing only black background with Loading... in bottom right.

With NVIDIA cards and drivers everything is just as fast and glitchfree as on Windows. That would mean that Intel/AMD have to do a bit of homework. The game engine is absolutely fine and if you have a GPU with proper Linux support you'll not see any performance regreessions.
